We’ve just re-designed a website for Aerial Media Services – find out a bit more about the drone ops by reading on!
Aerial Media Services are drone operators based in Devon but have worked nationwide for a broad range of clients. We’ve worked on their website before and we’re very happy to announce that we’ve created a new one for them now. So for those of us in the know, drones are hugely popular additions to most programmes and a massive range of social media snippets too – it more often than not that you see aerial shots from drones in programmes such as Top Gear, Country File even the Great British Bake Off!
If you’d wanted a drone operator 10 years ago you would probably be given an odd look – nowadays they are 2 a penny it seems – however……you need to sort the wheat from the chaff! If you’re looking for a quality drone operator then there is a checklist that you ought to go through before booking them:
- Are they qualified – to operate a drone commercially you need to have a special license approved by the CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) – if you pass the exams, practical and theory, then you will be issued with a Permission for Commercial Operations license (PFCO) – always ask to see this.
- Are they insured – in order to be insured, you’ll need to have a PFCO and you have to be insured to fly commercially – again, always ask for the insurance documents from the company
- Risk Assessments – a risk assessment will need to be written out by the proposed drone operator for any job – this is not compulsory but, in Aerial Media Services eyes, essential practice.
- EXPERIENCE – this is a a definite must – nothing counts more than experience – whether it be the weather conditions, topography, health and safety aspect, shot composition, shot possibilities, the Aerial Media Services drone operators have done it – 6 years of commercial operations have seen them work for a wide spectrum of clients. From helping with corporate identities, whether this be operating drones in Devon or nationwide, to terrestrial television work, promotional videos and feature films – they’ve been there and done it!
